Octavo (19.5cm); first binding in blue-green cloth, with titles stamped in gilt on spine; dustjacket; [9],10-252,[4]pp. Bookplate signed by the author loosely laid in. A few faint foxed spots to text edges, else Fine. Dustjacket is unclipepd (priced $3.00), with some faint scattered foxing; very Near Fine. "A classic of pulp SF in which a small army of soldiers of fortune is co-opted into a war between alternate futures to settle which of them will really exist. The gaudy costume drama is sustained by the power of the central idea, which was new in 1938 when the novel was serialized in Astounding" (Barron, Anatomy of Wonder 2-135).
