Best known as the author of Every Man His Own Broker (First edition, 1761), Mortimer was an attorney, diplomat and writer with an interest in commercial law. The engraving is based on a portrait by Sir William Beechey [1753-1839]. Titled "Thomas Mortimer, Esq.," it was published in London by J. Sewell in 1799. Not in Eller. Laeuchli, A Bibliographical Catalog of William Blackstone 481.
