Book is fine in the sttict definition published my Bookman's Weekly ="approaches condition AS NEW but without being crisp". and I thus note at back one corner has been bumpd with no loss of colour.Good dust jacket. xii, 307 p. 22 cm. Characteristics of the first printing are dark cloth binding, top edge of pages black, published by Duell, Sloane and Pearce with first edition stated on copyright page and no note of later printing, Xii prelims, 307pp, Characteristics of first dust jacket are: ONLY title The Last Frontier and "by Howard Fast. : $2.50 on inner flap. This book meets all those criteria and is highly collectible. When he wrote it he was a 26-year-old and had not yet joined the Communist party. He had contributed to an orphanage during the Spanish civil war and been charged in the USA with refusing to reveal the name of his fellow contributors. Whilst in prison he started writing SPARTACUS, his most famous novel. It was the filming of the book that proved to be a crack in the Hollywood blacklisting movement. He became a famous novelist but as this was one of his first, it had a short print run. It was a great success, and many more print runs were made. Map on lining-papers. HIGHLY COLLECTIBLE
