List of illustrations, a note on casualties, the soldiers and civilians: what they do today, bibliography, acknowledgements and index. At the beginning of the text are maps of Berlin. Between pages 222 and 223 there are eight pages of black-and-white photography. Photographic paperback binding with red and black coloured titles to the front panel and read and white coloured titles to the back strip. In this book the author recounts the last three weeks of World War II – the final assault on Berlin. "The Last Battle is a masterly account of those three weeks of the death throes of the Thousand Year Reich. It follows the fortunes of ordinary men and women, soldiers and civilians, victors and vanquished .... as Berlin was gutted, its women raped, its people terrorised by an invader driven on by vengeance ..." -- from rear panel blurb. Minor creasing of the book corners with rubbing of the book edges and panels. A small white coloured sticker has been placed to the lower edge of the back strip and there is uniform light tanning of the text block edges and pages.
