New York: Devin-Adair, 1915. McGuire (1868-1923), known as the "Boy Mayor" of Syracuse, New York, was an ardent Irish nationalist. He supported an alliance with Germany to defeat England and win Irish freedom. This is a Very Good (Plus) to Near Fine copy of the First Edition. Bright red cloth binding, with gilt titling on the spine and front cover. Clean text; 313 pages, with six pages of publisher adverts in the rear. This is a PRESENTATION COPY; laid-in is a complimentary card from the author dated March 1, 1915. There is a bookplate on the front paste-down. The middle signature, which has an illustration of the patriot Daniel O'Connell, is loose. This is a publishing defect, not a sign of wear or damage; it has never been bound in. No dustjacket; in an archival plastic protector. . First Edition.. Hard Cover. Very Good (Plus)/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
