Translated from the French by Mark Polizzotti. 368 pages, 8 page section of art works on glossy paper. Brown illus wraps clean, with light crease down front near fore edge and first few pages, light wear around cover edges, spine heel lightly scuffed. No spine creases. Binding tight and solid, square. Pages completely clean and free from any markings. Laclotte was art historian, curator, teacher, and museum director at the Musee de Louvre (1951-1994) and the chief curator for twenty years, working on such projects as the Musee d'Orsay in Paris; Musee du Petir Palais in Avignon, while enriching the Louvvre collections with masterpieces by Piero della Fancesca, Georges de la Tour, and Vermeer.
