Gloucestershire: Sutton Publishing, 1997. First edition. Hardcover. 196pp. Large octavo [27 cm] Green textured paper over boards with the title stamped in gilt on the backstrip. Pictorial endpapers. Gently bumped at the top fore edge corners of the covers and the head of the spine. In a very good dust jacket, with subtle rubbing on the front panel, and light scratched indented notations on the rear panel. John Piper was one of Britain's leading artists and a pioneer in various fields, including war art and stage design. He was also arguably the greatest twentieth-century designer in stained glass. Piper was appointed Official War Artist in 1944.
