Author George Bernard Shaw, an Irish comic dramatis/playwright and literary credit, had the John Bull's Other Island play premier in London at the Royal Court Theater, November 1, 1904. The play is a comedy about Ireland, first commissioned by W.B. Yeats for Dublin's Abbey Theatre, but Yeats rejected the production as being too lengthy. After the successful premier in London, the popularity of the play quickly built Shaw's reputation as a solid, sophisticated playwright. A command performance was given for King Edward VII. Shaw continued writing to the delight of readers, literary critics, and lovers of the theater. Shaw won the Pulitzer Prize for Literature in 1925. This is a highly collectable book.
