Fenimore Cooper, LEATHER-STOCKING EDITION. SEE photos for this and other titles available from the same limited edition set - all sold separately. No date of publication is indicated, but circa 1900. Appears unread. Very Good condition. Handsomely bound in the original gilt-ruled textured maroon cloth, with smooth maroon cloth spine. The spine features two gilt-decorated/lettered brown leather labels. SEE PHOTO. The cover is only very lightly rubbed. Internal condition is Very Fine -- apparently never read, especially since some pages remain unopened -- still uncut at the fore-edge. Hinges, inner and outer, are perfect. NO owner's name or bookplate. All pages are crisp and clean. NO foxing. Top edge gilt. All gilt stamping is still bright and shiny. With photogravure frontispiece reproducing an illustration by R. F. Zogbaum depicting a maritime scene. (tissue-guard is text printed), illustrated titlepage (printed in red and black), and decorative chapter head and tail pieces. "Jack Tier is a harsh reworking of the earlier sea romance, The Red Rover, in extremely realistic terms.
