A collection of myths, legends, ghost stories, and poetry, which were first serialized in Bentley's Miscellany from 1837, and first published in book form 1840-47. Illustrated by George Cruikshank, John Leech, and John Tenniel. Written by Thomas Ingoldsby, the pen-name of Richard Harris Barham, an English cleric of the Church of England, a novelist and poet. Bound by Haynton, London. In the original half red crushed morocco binding with gilt edges. Externally, smart with light shelf wear and rubbing to the joints. Rear joint starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout. Previous owner's bookplate to front pastedown. Bound by Haynton, London. Very Good

Where are We?
Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
