Sobre este item
A Signed Limited Edition. Number 467 of a limited edition of 560 large-paper copies numbered and signed by the illustrator. Large quarto, original vellum, titles and pictorial decoration to spine and cover gilt, top edge gilt, others untrimmed, dark green pictorial endpapers, ties sympathetically replaced by the bindery of George Bayntun, tipped in colour frontispiece and 23 plates mounted on green papers with printed tissue-guards, 12 tinted plates, 66 illustrations within the text. Published by J. M. Dent & Co. (London), 1907.
Some occasional minor browning, a small tear to the upper right corner of the half title page expertly and discreetly repair by the bindery of George Bayntun, front panel a little bowed. A near fine copy.
This work is the first signed limited edition of Arthur Rackham's illustrated edition of Barham's Ingoldsby Legends. It was originally published in 1898, however for 1907 it was revised, so that "greater prominence could be given to the illustrations by better and larger reproductions, including a greater number of illustrations in colour." (Rackham's Prefactory Note. Latimore & Haskell p. 30.)
