SIGNED by Harrer on the short title page. The book is in fine condition. Previous owner personal bookplate on front pastedown otherwise no previous owner marks or writing on any pages, NOT ex-library, clean covers, no fading, no foxing, tight binding. The Dust Jacket has some rubbind along folds and at spine ends, 5mm tiny tear upper front, 1cm clean tear lower rear. The book measures 234mm tall x 156mm, and has 256 pages, 5 maps, 38 photos (18 in color). Account, in diary form, of the first ascent of Carstensz Pyramid, considered by many to be one of the seven summits (the opposing opinion views Mt. Kosciusko in Australia as the 7th summit). This book describes eight first ascents in the Carstensz Range, including the 1st ascent of Carstensz Pyramid (16500') in 1962 with Philip Temple. It is one of few books on climbing New Guinea's Mountains. Harrer said that this was his most difficult and dangerous expedition. PHOTOS ARE OF ACTUAL BOOK BEING OFFERED..
