Sobre este item
London: Macmillan and Co.,, 1940. First edition, first impression, the uncorrected version of Keynes's most successful essay in persuasion and the application of his General Theory to wartime economy. A corrected version, issued in orange printed boards, was published a few months later. "Apart from suggesting ways of adding greatly to the financial resources of the government, this inaugurated the idea of an iron ration at low, fixed prices of a list of necessities in lower-income budgets, with government subsidies if required. He proposed also to assist families with low incomes by introducing family allowances payable directly to the mother. The net effect of these concessions would have been to effect an actual improvement in the condition of the worst-off compared with pre-war years" (ODNB). Octavo. Original green card boards printed in black. Spine a little sunned, small patch of abrasion to front cover, contents clean and unmarked. A very good copy. Fundaburk 9991; Mattioli 1819; Moggridge C11.1.
