Sobre este item
NY: Holt, Rinehart and Winston, 1980. First edition. Hardcover. An association copy, inscribed to novelist Jim Harrison, author of Legends of the Fall: "To Jim, best and thanks, Philip Caputo." Caputo won a Pulitzer Prize for reporting and is best known for his nonfiction book A Rumor of War about Vietnam. This novel is his first, a story about a Vietnam vet who is pulled into guerrilla warfare in the deserts of Ethiopia. Jim Harrison himself said of the book: "Does not suffer in comparison with Graham Greene or Joseph Conrad. . . . An awesomely evil tale -enthralling, disgusting, utterly first-rate." A very good book with bumping to lower corners; "Harrison" is written in his daughter's hand at the top of the front free endpaper. In a very good jacket with toning to top edge and general edge wear, a few very short tears.
Sinopse
Philip Caputo lives in Norwalk, Connecticut.

Sobre Rural Hours
Rural Hours (formerly Wood + River = Books, est. 2019) specializes in ecology, natural history, nature writing, the environment, environmental literature, and contemporary essay, with a special passion for association copies and notable inscriptions. We draw our name from the popular-but-then-forgotten book by Susan Fenimore Cooper (published in 1850), generally considered the first work of environmental creative nonfiction by a woman in the U.S. We are interested in challenging and expanding the canon of environmental literature and finding books that tell remarkable stories and illuminate the tradition of writing about place and natural history.
