Saint John, N.B.: Saint John Globe Publishing Company, Limited, 1914 Book. Illus. by Photos. Very Good Minus. Hardcover. First ( No Additional printings). 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. Original grey cloth with SJHS in red on boards. Previous owner's name. Newspaper clipping from 1985 about a 60th Anniversary Dinner for the Class of 1925 laid in. From the first Grammar School on Germain Street to the former High School on Union Street. The fire of 1877 caused much moving around of various departments, due to the loss of the Grammar School at Germain and Horsfield and Victoria School (for girls) at Duke and Sydney. Victoria School had been occupied for only a year ! Rolls of Graduates from the Grammar and High Schools 1872-1898 are given, followed by graduates 1898-1913 at the Union Street location. Three Rhodes scholars are pictured, as is Wilmer Duff, '81, who took the Gilchrist Scholarship over all candidates from Great Britain and the Colonies ! .
