Second edition, revised and reset. Illustrated with a colour frontispiece, eleven colour plates, one hundred and ninety-two monochromatic plates, and thirty-five in-text figures. Collated complete. A history of jewellery across Europe from mediaeval times into the middle of the nineteenth century. Dealing with art and history with reference to a vast wealth of material and sources. Written by Dame Joan Evans, a British historian of French and English medieval art, specialising in Early Modern and medieval jewellery. Her personal notable collection was bequeathed to the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. In the original green cloth binding. Externally, excellent. Original price-clipped dust wrapper is very smart with light wear to the extremities and the odd small mark. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout. Fine
