Sobre este item

London: Lawrence & Bullen, 1906. First Printing. Hardcover. Fair. One volume of a 4 volume set, complete in itself. Folio, 15 x 11 inches, in paper-covered boards, fair copy, appears to be rebound, some rubbing to joints, edges, corners and spine, contents fair to good: some splotchy brown stains to endpapers have carried through, rapidly decreasing in intensity to p. 5 where they all but disappear, rest of the text very good, tear to title page (3"). 269 pp, illustrated, some plates in color. Bookplate of William and Gertrude Schuchardt, a prominent Milwaukee couple of the turn of the century (Gertrude killed herself at a young age in 1919 after experiencing what the press at the time called "violent mental upheavals"), whose Schuchardt Fund still finances acquisitions at the Milwaukee Art Museum. Also with ownership signature in bold red crayon of Barbara Dorn, a well known interior designer of the 1950s-70s with offices in NYC and SF.
