The first two volumes only (of five) of a deluxe illustrated Folio Society edition of Thomas Babington Macaulay's influential History of England. Written from a Whig point of view, the author provides a detailed look at the history of England from 1685 through the accession of William and Mary in about 1689. Each volume with several black & white illustrations, including frontis portraits; each with its own index. With an introduction by Peter Rowland. --- Bound in full blue cloth-covered boards with spine titling & decorations in gilt, with additional spine ornamentation in blue; blue topstain. This set is housed in a shared tan paper-covered slipcase with a drawn portrait to one panel. --- An about-Fine, well-preserved set lacking markings or significant damages. Slipcase also in great shape, though with some creasing to a panel. (NOTE: Due to the weight of this item, extra shipping charges may be requested for shipments beyond the U.S.); Tall Octavo - 9 to 10 in. tall; xxiv, 526, xvii, 542 pages .

This is another great 5 volume set of English History from a Whig and political view from a standpoint other than the what you normally would read.I would love it in my collection and may have to seriously entertain its purchase.C.E.HUGGINS RARE BOOKS
