New York: Macmillan Company. Very Good in Very Good dust jacket. 1924. Revised Edition; First Printing. Hardcover. Revised and enlarged edition. Signed and inscribed by Taft to his student, Ila McAfee; "To Ila with all good wishes and many hopes/Your friend, Lorado Taft/Christmas 1926." Red cloth lettered in gilt along the spine. Illustration stamped in blind to the front board. Black and white horse bookplate of Taos artist Ila McAfee (Turner) to the half-title page. After college McAfee studied with Taft in Chicago, before moving to Taos in 1928. McAfee has pasted in five small photos of sculptures to pages 15, 372, 469, 537 and a photo of Taft to the Editor's Note page. The dust jacket has a chip to the top of the spine, and shallow chipping to the heel. Publisher's price of $6.50 on the front flap. 12 plates with tissue guards present, including the frontispiece and 116 text illustrations. Bibliography, index.; 604 pages; Signed by Author .
