Bright green cloth binding with black stamped decoration on front cover and black titles on spine. Very light edge wear, minor spotting, corners and spine ends a little bumped, page edges a little foxed but interior pages bright, binding tight. Illustrated yellow dust jacket with black titles on front cover and spine is faded, tape repairs along top edge, chip in top edge, short tear in bottom edge of front, short tear in top edge of back of jacket, light scrubbing, creases, minor spots, not price clipped. Measures 6 x 8 1/2 inches.

New York: E.P. Dutton, 1972. This Fifth Edition from 1972 of a book originally published in 1966 is in Fine condition, but with the signature of the former owner on the front free endpaper. The unclipped dust jacket is in Very Good+ condition, with some small chips on the spine crown and rear panel. I've placed the dust jacket into a Brodart protective sleeve. (Click on photo.) Gertrude Foster was the editor of The Herb Grower Magazine and was one of the foremost experts on herbs in her day. Her instructive guide to the care and growing of numerous herbs remains definitive. She and her husband grew over 250 species of herbs at their Falls Village, Connecticut, home. The book is bound in a blue-green cloth with black titles of the spine and a vignette drawing of a potted herb plant on the front panel. The book measures 5 3/4 by 8 1/2 inches and includes 255 pages, with Index. . Hard Cover. Fine/Very Good+. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

Still a nice copy of this work that "..presents all the information needed to start a successful herb garden, whether in a corner of the main garden or on a windowsill.
