Signing reads, 'With sincere thanks/for your kind/assistance/Geoffrey Williams'. The dedicatee, L W Bamberger, has stamped his details on front paste-down and front endpaper. Leonard Bamberger prepared the many photographs for the author, and is listed by the author in the Acknowledgements. The Confederation of Cinque Ports is an historic series of coastal towns in Kent and Sussex. It was originally formed in 1155 for military and trade purposes, but is now entirely ceremonial. The original five harbours were; Sandwich, Romney, Dover, Hythe and Hastings. The author has included interesting material upon the towns in the United States and elsewhere which are namesakes of the Ports. The author brings together within one book an extensive amount of material, some of it previously unobtainable. With Bibliography and Index. A near fine copy, in a near fine d/w, of a UNIQUE first edition, first printing SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR. D/w now protected in a detachable, non-adhesive, clear sheaf.. Signed by Author.
