The first impression of the Uniform Edition of this work, published the same year as the first edition, in the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dustwrapper. Correctly identified with '5081/4' to the colophon. The dustwrapper is the Uniform Edition version, priced at 8s. 6d. to the front flap. Evelyn Waugh (1903-1966) was a well-renowned English writer of travel books, novels and biographies. This is Waugh's sole historical fiction work. It follows Helena of Constantinople and her mission to find the relics of the cross on which Christ was crucified. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally sound, with marks to the boards. Spine is slightly cocked. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean. Dust wrapper is sunned to the spine and chipped to the head and tail of the spine and to the folds of the flaps. Good
