A near-fine copy First edition of the second of Spyri's Heidi books, issued both in cloth (matching the binding of Heidi's Lehr - und Wanderjahre which was published the preceding year) and in this pictorial binding as volume five in a series by Perthes titled "Geschichte für Kinder... von Johanna Spyri". Octavo. Original pictorial boards, spine lettered in black. Housed in a custom red cloth chemise and half morocco box. Minor patches of rubbing, light foxing to edges, endpaper toned. A near-fine copy.
