Red cloth, gilt lettering & illustration on front cover, gilt lettering on spine (minor bumping to lower two corners, minor rubbing), still a VG- copy, from the library of William McDonald, Jr. (1921-2010), noted historian of Classical Roman architecture and art, w/ ownership markings on front pastedown, as well as a series of corrections in pencil by MacDonald in the margins. First edition of this excellent work on the famed Hagia Sophia, including a history of the Great Church, description, principles of design, structure, decoration, and specific interior & exterior details by level.
