Sobre este item
New York: Simon and Schuster, 1932. First Edition, First Printing . Blindstamped Cloth. Near Fine/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Near Fine. New York: Simon & Schuster, 1932. First Edition and First Printing of author's first novel. A near fine book in a VG+ jacket with only minor edgewear, not far from near fine itself. Please review scans. Octavo, gray dust jacket, black cloth boards with white spine imprinting, 401 pp. True first edition and first printing of Leonard Ehrlich's first novel, his now-famous and much reprinted character study of pre-civil war abolitionist John Brown, and the story of the hunt for him: "...they wanted him dead or alive, better dead - a gray, gaunt man, almost sixty, with intense eyes, a mouth that was bitter, and seven huge sons". Brown, one of the most enigmatic personalities in American history, in or out of the anti-slavery movement, is given in this novel the richly textured study and attention an almost-mythical character deserves. Genuinely in collector's condition, and with the very scarce dustjacket. Uncommon first edition even without it. L-43n
