Originally published in German in 1899 as "Grundlagen der Geometrie" this is the first English language edition, considered to be a translation of the second edition incorporating changes done for the French edition. One of the most influential publications for 20th century mathematics. This work is from a series of lectures on euclidean geometry Hilbert gave at University of Göttingen, 1898-1899. Hilbert sets up a system of 20 axioms using three elements: points, straight lines, and planes, and their mutal relations: betweenness, "lies on", and congruence. Reference: DSB VI 388-395p.
