It ran from 26th February - 21st June 2015,at Wellcome Collection,183 Euston Road, London NW1 2BE.] FINE+/FINE-.No owner inscrptn and no price-clip to dw/dj.Bright,crisp,clean,matt wrap-around black background with glossy, horizontal and angled yellow bands with black capitalised lettering in the style of police crime-scene tape, and other white lettering to both front+rear panels of dw/dj,a glossy, yellow spine/ backstrip with black lettering, rear panel with author's white lettered comment respectivelyround; all with negligible shelf-wear,bumping, creasing to edges and corners – no major nicks, tears or splits present.Head of spine/backstrip of dw/dj with miniscule bumping and reciprocal creases, foot of same with a pair of tiniest of closed snicks. Top+fore-edges bright and clean; contents bright, tight, clean, solid and sound – no dog-ear reading creases to any pages' corners – virtually pristine - possibly unread, apart from my own collation.Publisher's bright,crisp,clean,sharp-cornered,original plain black cloth boards with bright, crisp, blocked white ink lettering and a white silhouetted fly,to spine/backstrip,a black+yellow striped headband and immaculate/ clean, plain black endpapers.UK,8vo HB+dw/dj,1st edn,viii-ixpp+2- 310pp [paginated] includes a Preface,12 chapters and a Conclusion, profuse contemporary b/w illus, diagrams, portrait photographs and facsimile documents interspersed throughout the text and the book,an 8pp block of contemporary b/w+colour photographs between pp150/1, acknowledgements,a 4pp select bibliography, illustration credits and an Index; plus [unpaginated] half-title+title pages, both with black illustration of a fly, similarly illustrated contents list/table - as are chapter headings and in the pages' borders/edges too. Visually the exterior appearance is exceptional for a book of it's age, and even internally, the book is also in an exceptional condition/state of preservation and presentation. It is only the minimal exterior faults described that prevent a higher grading for the dw/dj.Despite them,it really is an exceptional copy for brightness and cleanliness.
A major exhibition exploring the history, science and art of forensic medicine.'Forensics: The Anatomy of Crime' travels from crime scene to courtroom, across centuries and continents, exploring the specialisms of those involved in the delicate processes of collecting, analysing and presenting medical evidence. It draws out the stories of victims, suspects and investigators of violent crimes and our enduring cultural fascination with death and detection.THE DEAD TALK.
To the right listener, they tell us all about themselves: where they came from, how they lived, how they died - and who killed them. Thanks to the messages left by a corpse,a crime scene or the faintest of human traces, forensic scientists can unlock the mysteries of the past and help justice to be done. 'Forensics' draws on interviews with top-level professionals,ground-breaking research and Val McDermid's own experience to lay bare the secrets of this fascinating scienc. And,along the way,she wonders at how maggots collected from a corpse can help determine time of death, how a DNA trace a millionth the size of a grain of salt can be used to convict a killer.
In her novels,McDermid has been solving complex crimes and confronting unimaginable evil for years. Now,she's looking at the people who do it for real.It is a journey that will take her to war zones, fire scenes and autopsy suites, and help her uncover the facts behind real-life cases from Jack the Ripper to the Madrdid Train Bombings.
