Sobre este item

London: A. & C. Black, 1905. First Edition. Large 8vo. xii, 262, [4 ads] pp. Index. 75 full-page watercolor plates by Colonel R. C. Goff, with titled tissue guards. Crimson cloth with a design printed in light brown, white and black on front cover and in light brown and black on the spine; titling blocked in gilt on front cover and spine; TEG.; in green and black illustrated dustjacket. Minor wear to extremities; front hinge lightly cracked; else fine in near fine dustjacket ( small chipping to upper corners & spine head); a lovely copy in the uncommon dustjacket. Robert Charles Goff (1837-1922) was an Irish printmaker and painter who specialised in topographical scenes. During his later years he moved to a villa overlooking Florence where he and his second wif, Clarissa, wrote about the area. The original watercolors replicated in their book were all created direct from nature, in order that they may bear that impress of truth which work done direct from nature best conveys. - Preface. (Inman #27).
