Sobre este item

London: Frank Palmer, , 1911. First edition, first impression. Written for the author's two sons, Floor Games explores the possibilities of imaginative play, city building, exploration, and war. Rare in the dust jacket. Royal octavo. Original blue cloth lettered in buff, mounted coloured plate from a photograph of Wells's sons building a fort to the front board. With the die-cut dust jacket. Black and white frontispiece and 7 other plates from photographs by the author, marginal line-drawn illustrations in blue to every page. Extremities a little rubbed, free endpapers faintly tanned, light foxing to fore edge of text block. An exceptionally bright copy in the chipped jacket with several splits along sunned spine and flap folds. Wells 42.

Sinopse

The jolliest indoor games for boys and girls demand a floor, and the home that has no floor upon which games may be played falls so far short of happiness. It must be a floor covered with linoleum or cork carpet, so that toy soldiers and such-like will stand up upon it, and of a color and surface that will take and show chalk marks; the common green- colored cork carpet without a pattern is the best of all.
