Perkins chronicles the history of a great western city and its newspaper, from the early pioneer days of the Rocky Mountains with its mountain settlers, Indian marauders, Horace Greeley, the new railroads and famous American journalists like Damon Runyon and Lowell Thomas. Tales of corrupt politics, wide-open gambling towns, and colorful eyebrow-raising events in a time where newspapermen usually kept a six-shooter on his desk!
