Sobre este item
NY and London: W. W. Norton & Company. As New with No dust jacket as issued. 1996. Second Edition. First Printing. Hard Cover. Publisher's full red cloth, spine in five compartments separated by raised bands and gilt borders, gilt lettering in three compartments, gilt tooling in remainder. Red silk marked bound in. Folio (376 x 251 mm). This is a full-size, photographic facsimile of the First Folio edition of Shakespeare's plays, which was printed over a period of two years and released in 1623. As printing of the First Filios proceeded, proofs were read and corrections were made. The uncorrected sheets were not thrown out, but were mixed in with the corrected ones, with the result that no two First Folios, of which there are 240 in existence, are identical. This edition reproduces pages from 29 of the most satisfactory copies, out of the 82 now in the Folger Shakespeare Library, originally selected by Prof. Charlton Hinman in 1968. In his Introduction, Peter W. M. Blayney reconsiders Professor Hinman's findings in the light of new Elizabethan scholarship. The volume includes all of the line numbering established in the 1968 edition, as well as the traditional Globe act-scene-line numbers. Professor Blayney's Introduction includes a table identifying the order the pages of each play were set, and the compositors believed to have set each page. This is a unique and invaluable tool for any serious Shakespeare scholar.. The volume is in perfect, pristine condition, unmarked, tight, square and clean. The slipcase is also in perfect condition. A large, heavy book (11 pounds) - additional shipping charges may apply. AS NEW. . Facsimiles. Folio 13" - 23" tall. 928 pp .
