Sobre este item

Bloomsbury USA, 2006. Hardcover. Near Fine/Near Fine. First printing. Signed with a strikethrough on the title page. The second book from Kolbert; her third, The Sixth Extinction, won the Pulitzer Prize. A wide-ranging travelogue and reportage about climate change. As the jacket description finishes, "Growing out of a groundbreaking three-part series for the New Yorker, Fields Notes from a Catastrophe brings the environment into the consciousness of the American people and asks what, if anything, can be done to save our planet." Near fine condition with some light soiling to outer edges of black boards (hard to notice). The jacket is also near fine with one small spot and a two-inch scratch (indentation) on the the left side of the front panel. Nice book still: signed first printings are uncommon. Please inquire for photos. We invite you to explore our dedicated collection of signed and inscribed climate change books.

Sobre Rural Hours

Rural Hours (formerly Wood + River = Books, est. 2019) specializes in ecology, natural history, nature writing, the environment, environmental literature, and contemporary essay, with a special passion for association copies and notable inscriptions. We draw our name from the popular-but-then-forgotten book by Susan Fenimore Cooper (published in 1850), generally considered the first work of environmental creative nonfiction by a woman in the U.S. We are interested in challenging and expanding the canon of environmental literature and finding books that tell remarkable stories and illuminate the tradition of writing about place and natural history.
