Heavy book. xi, 718 pages, indexed. Frontis b/w portrait of H. H. Wells, Contemporary Portrait by M. Boucard. 62 b/w illustrations inc. full page plates, many 'Picshua' which are humorous drawings, some serial, with notations . Fore-edge uncut. Decorative tan cloth boards with a light stain on the spine and faint darker lines to upper front panel. Sewn binding is tight, solid, square, with sharp corners. Internals are very clean and completley spotless, no creases. H G Wells, 1866-1946, the "father of science fiction". His autobiographical book covers the period up to the 1930s with chapters: origins, schoolboy, early adolescence, science student in London, struggle for a living, dissection, farily launched at last, and the idea of a planned world which includes travel to Washington to meet Franklin Roosevelt and Russia to meet Stalin. 9.5 x 6.5 x 1.75 inches. 1934, The Macmillan Company, NY
