The fifth edition of this popular law book intended as a legal guide for the average citizen who might be involved in litigation. By Giles Jacob, (baptised 22 November 1686 – 8 May 1744), a British legal writer and literary critic. This was his last work. Chapters include 'Of the laws relating to marriage, bastardy, infants, ideots, lunaticks' and 'Of publick offences, treason, murder, felony, burglary, robbery, rape, sodomy, forgery, perjury, etc, and their punishment'. With previous owner's ink inscription to rear free endpaper of one John McBride. In a calf binding. Externally, sound with slight cracking to joints. Internally, firmly bound except for starting to rear free endpaper. Slight loss to head of title page, not affecting text. Some spots throughout. Good

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
