Sobre este item

London, UK: T Cadell Jun & W Davies, 1797. 2nd Edition . Hardcover. Poor. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. 432pp. Missing spine label, front board barely attached. Previous owner's name on front paste down. Text block is very clean and thus an acceptable working copy. Interesting as an historical view of female education, introducing young women into society; the employment of time; considerations antecedent to marriage; the duties of matrimonial life; parental duties etc. Written in retort to Wollstonecraft's Vindication of the Rights of Women, Glisborne argues that female subordinated nature is inane but favoured development of female intellectual capabilities.
