Preface by Susan McCulloch, a personal note by Alan McCulloch, introduction by authors, list of abbreviations & contractions, acknowledgements, list of both colour and black-and-white illustrations. Pale yellow coloured end pages. The text is illustrated with both colour and black-and-white reproductions of various artists works from across Australia's history. Black coloured boards with gilt coloured embossed titles to the front panel and backstrip. Colour illustrated dustwrapper, being a part reproduction of Arthur Boyd's work "Girl Asleep in a Stream", 1960, with white and pale blue coloured titles to the front panel and backstrip. First published, in two volumes in 1964. The title says it all. The book also includes a small section on Indigenous artists. A little rubbing of the backstrip corners and of the book corners. There is a small blemish to the front text edge. Minor rubbing of the dustwrapper edges and panels. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. [4], 5 - 879, [1] pages,.
