Sobre este item
Middletown, CT: W. H. Niles. Good. 1831. early printing. Hardcover. Woodcut Frontis; 4to 11" - 13" tall; 168 pages; 1831 W. H. Niles Middletown, CT Early reprinting of the Webster Speller which first appeared in this form two years prior, 1829. Soundly bound in original drab blue paper covered wooden boards and quarter leather backed spine. Prior ownership of what appears to be Samuel Lied or Liedl of Cocalico Township in Lancaster County, PA. His amusing, context related, inscription on the 2nd free endpage: "Samuel Liedl / his book dont / stel it for feer / the gallows might / be you end" Leather backed spine a bit rubbed and a little distressed. Wooden boards have a shallow chip top front corner of the cover and some of the paper over the wood has been rubbed away exposing the boards in patches. First and last few leaves with dogeared pages at corners; moderate foxing and spotting throughout. Uncommon early example with a triking ownership inscription. Good only .
