Sobre este item
London: Macmillan and Co., Limited,, 1933. First edition, first impression. "The most widely known of Joan Robinson's works is still the first, The Economics of Imperfect Competition. It was the book of her youth, which placed her immediately in the forefront of the development of economic theory... a masterpiece in the traditional sense of the world" (New Palgrave IV, p. 214). In Imperfect Competition, she laid out a model of competition between firms, each of which had some monopoly power, and in so doing she rejected Marshall's notion of perfect competition, a concept which had held sway for the previous few decades. Octavo. Original blue cloth, spine lettered in gilt. Neat signature of one Alan Truman to front pastedown, dated in his hand October 1933 to front free endpaper; pencilled annotations to text and loosely inserted drawing of economic graph. Light rubbing at extremities. A very good copy. Cicarelli & Cicarelli 005; IESS 1933a.
