[6], vi-xvi, [1], 2-294, [2]; [3], iv-xvi, [1], 2-400, [2], [2] (pages of publisher's advertisements), [2] pp. Maroon publisher's cloth with gilt lettering on the spines; top edges gilt. Black coated endpapers and pastedowns. Each volume illustrated with a few double-page maps, one map is a folding map at the end of volume one. A sharp and informative set of Quaker and religious history beginning in the medieval period and ending on the eve of the Revolutionary War. A touch of rubbing to the spine ends, else a sharp example.
Sinopse
This is Volume 1 (I haven't seen Volume 2 online yet). Fiske tells a delightful and informative series of stories and provides authoritative historical framework, for the development of New York. Volume 1 deals almost entirely with Dutch lore. Highly recommended for anyone with interest in New York.
