Extensive chapter notes, bibliography, index. Black cloth. A very fine copy with lightly chipped pictorial dust jacket (jacket slightly rubbed and with 2-inch tear to rear panel). "Dr. Parke, a surgeon, and eight other men organized the Como Pioneer Company of Como, Illinois, on April 1, 1849, and left for California on April 7. The company, traveling in three wagons, followed the California Trail and entered via Donner Pass on August 31. After a short visit to Sacramento, Parke arrived at Bidwell's Bar on the Feather River... his diary for September 20, 1849, to September 18, 1850, documents his life in the mines and principal cities and provides good descriptions of the Indians" (Kurutz). [Kurutz: 481]..

Sobre Argonaut Book Shop

The Argonaut Book Shop was founded in 1941 in the middle of the financial district of San Francisco. The Argonaut was a founding member of the Antiquarian Booksellers\' Association of America and has been a member in good standing ever since. The Shop is now located just three blocks from Union Square in downtown San Francisco and is open six days a week. Parking facilities include ample street space and a parking garage close by.
