Sobre este item

London: Macdonald & Co. (Publishers), Ltd, 1974. Preface by Michael Holroyd. Pp. 276(last blank); post 8vo; brown boards, spine lettered in gilt; dust wrapper, slightly foxed (mainly on reverse), edges a trifle rubbed and split the backstrip lightly faded; bookplate of David Levine, Sydney, on upper pastedown, blank verso of last text page lightly offset, a little light foxing; McDonald, London, 1974. Revised Definitive Edition. *First published in 1928: in the UK under the title Jazz and Jasper; and in America as Eva's Apples. Later retitled My Sinful Earth in the first collected uniform edition (1947). 'Its central character is based on Beaverbrook; Lord Ottercove dominates a story which combines extravagant fantasy with Fleet Street satire' [wrapper blurb]. In the Preface, Michael Holroyd explains that 'Gerhardie had originally wanted to call it Doom, but his British publishers vetoed this on the ground that such reverberations of gloom would at once kill all sales'.
