Sobre este item
Among the major South African writers, J. M. Coetzee has perhaps been unique in his unwillingness to write directly about life under apartheid. This novel's themes include personal shame, the subjugation of women, a changing country, and romantic poetry. The writer won the Booker Prize for this effort, making him the first writer to win the trophy twice, the first time for Life & Times of Michael K.
Sinopse
Disgrace is a 1999 novel by South African-born author J. M. Coetzee, winner of the 2003 Nobel Prize in Literature; the book itself won the Booker Prize in 1999, the year in which it was published. A 2006 poll of "literary luminaries" by The Observer newspaper named it as the "greatest novel of the last 25 years" written in English outside the United States.
Avaliações
This is a spare but immensely powerful novel, written by a Nobel Prize winning South African writer. Brilliant and unforgettable.
