Each setting is devoted to a mythical or historical female and represaentes her accomplishments or her legendary powers. A 'Heritage Floor' made of 2,300 porcelain tiles bears the names of 999 other women -- chosen from all countries, periods, and fields of endeavor..." (front flap).
