Arranged alphabetically, and containing 1042 monochrome reproductions of various pieces over the three volumes included, the first volume focusses on Lucas Achtschellinck, a Flemish landscape painter, to Willem Claez Heda, an artist of the Dutch Golden Age. The second volume here is on the work of Cornelis de Heem, a still-life painter associated with both Flemish Baroque and the Dutch Golden Age, up until Theodor Rombouts, a painter noted for creating the 'Caravaggesque' genre depicting lively, colourful scenes. The third and final volume contains reproductions of the work of Willem Romeyn, a landscape painter, to Gerard Pietersz van Zijl, a Flemish painter of portraits and genre scenes.
