Washington. Good with no dust jacket. 1855. First Edition. Disbound. Disbound with grey cloth tape and loose stitching on binding edge. From the Ninth Annual Report of the Smithsonian Institution, 1855, pp 295-316. Pages are toned with light soil and a few chips. The first page is crossed through and is the last page of the previous report (a salamander description). Major Carleton's report describes an 1853 excursion with his troops from Albuquerque to the pueblo and church ruins of what is now Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument. This scarce report was reprinted by Stagecoach Press in 1965. Wagner-Camp 251. ; 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall; 22 pp .
