Sobre este item

New York: The Viking Press, 1958. First Edition. Hardcover. Very good. First edition, first printing. The Dharma Bums, at once an exploration of Buddhist spirituality and an account of the Bay Area poetry scene, is notable for its thinly veiled portraits of Kerouac's acquaintances, including Allen Ginsberg, Gary Snyder, and Kenneth Rexroth. Octavo: 244 p. Original black cloth binding, with silver and gilt titles. A bit of wear to the corners and tips, with some rubbing to the silver stamping in the author's name on the spine; else very good.

Sinopse

The Dharma Bums is a 1958 novel by Beat Generation author Jack Kerouac. The semi-fictional accounts in the novel are based upon events that occurred years after the events of On the Road. The main characters are the narrator Ray Smith, based on Kerouac, and Japhy Ryder, based on the poet, essayist Gary Snyder, who was instrumental in Kerouac's introduction to Buddhism in the mid-1950s.
