Hardback with DJ. Edmund Wilson Jr. (1895 1972) was an American writer, literary critic and journalist. He is widely regarded as one of the most important literary critics of the 20th century. Wilson began his career as a journalist, writing for publications such as Vanity Fair and The New Yorker, which commissioned him to write a series of articles on the scrolls found at Qumran as they were discovered and studied in the middle of the last century. Wilson produced a very readable description of the ancient people who preserved the writings of their culture and a lucid account of the process of their discovery. A true gem of historical writing.
