The book and its contents are in generally clean, bright condition. The spine ends and corners of the book covers have edge wear, bumping, rubbing and spots of fraying, along with several chips missing to the spine ends. The text pages are generally and bright, though there are spots of foxing throughout. Both inner hinges have cracking. She wrote several important studies about women trapped in poverty, and the role that effective home economics could play in lifting women and families out of poverty. She was active in many organizations that advocated female empowerment and associated with many intellectuals and original thinkers, including writer Charlotte Perkins Gilman.
