Cloth in DJ; First Edition; 233pp; DJ slightly edgeworn & wrinkled with minor chipping to base of spine & protected by clear plastic sleeve, brown cloth boards square, clean & bright with gilt titling to spine, slight wear to spine ends & slight wrinkling to front board, top edge gilt, text unmarked, binding is sound, all illustrations & tissue guards present, VG/Good+ condition. Inscribed & Signed by Editor (author's daughter Anna) as "Cousin Anna, New Bedford, 1914" on FFEP. Scarce, antique autobiographical writings, journal & letters of American 19th century literary figure Daniel Ricketson (1813-1898), friend of Henry David Thoreau. He was known as a lawyer, philanthropist, poet, author, benefactor and abolitionist. Contains several mentions of Thoreau as well as Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry Longfellow. Illustrated with photos.
