London: Groombridge & Sons, 1859. Book. Good. Hardcover. First Edition.. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Dark green pebbled cloth with title in gilt on front cover and ruled lines blindstamped onto covers just inside the edges. Pale yellow endpapers. Title is handwritten neatly in contemporary handwriting (c.1859) in black ink on spine. Condition: Good, covers have light rubbing and shelfwear and light bumpint to cover corners and head and tail of spine. Cloth at head of spine beginning to fray. Previous owners name neatly written at top right of title page. Binding sound, text clean, no inscriptions. This book was published after the authors death, and was edited an enlarged by John Cox. 52pp. plus publishers list. Beautiful hand-coloured frontispiece of the "Late Admirable" variety of peach. Includes chapters on all aspects of peach and nectarine cultivation, together with lists to the rear of types of peaches and nectarines, including lists of new American and French varieties supplied by Thomas Rivers of the eponymous nursery in Sawbridgeworth. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
